Marlon Castro was recently diagnosed with cancer and to the unexpected shock of the community he passed away this morning Friday, January 27, 2012. Marlon leaves behind a loving wife and two children.
Healthy smiles, Happy Children! A team of doctors are at the San Pedro Smile Center giving free dental checkups to children. The free checkups are available for children ages 4-12 and the doctors are at the San Pedro Smile Center Too at the Holy Cross Anglican School.
Mama Vilma’s Family Home will be hosting its 2nd Annual Fashion Show on Saturday, January 28, 2012. The show will be hosted at the San Pedro Fitness Club and is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. (Doors open at 6:00 p.m.).
The San Pedro Cancer Society is gearing up for its 2nd annual "Light the Night" world cancer awareness walk on Saturday, February 4th, 2012. at 6:00pm sharp, Central Park. The deadline for ordering and paying shirts ($20.00 bze each) will be on Thursday, January 26, 2012, so that they are all printed and distributed before the walk.
Do you need to replant a mangrove? Have a program to repair a problem area? Want to start a mangrove area on an island? How about hundreds of seedlings FREE! About 2 months ago now, the beautiful black mangroves along the water line of the Marco Gonzalez Archaeological Reserve dropped its’ annual seeds. There are now hundreds of sprouts about 6” to 8” tall which are in the way of our tour path. It would be a shame to pull them up and destroy when someone in need can come harvest the seedlings and replant to beautify a new area.

The San Pedro Roman Catholic School gathered to make an arts and crafts fundraiser for one of their Alumni; Ethan Galvez, who is receiving medical treatment in Chetumal, Quintana Roo. The students made a small contribution of 50 cents to place their hand print along with their signature on a white piece of cloth.

Holy Cross Anglican School held a Health Fair on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at the School Compound. The Health Fair consisted of minor skin surgeries, dental check up (by the Belize Mission Project), check up on minor medical ailments, diabateses testing and blood pressure testing, among others. It was a fun and educational event for all the school and students.
