"We had a blast," commented Corina Alvarez to Ambergris Today, describing her 30th Anniversary Class Reunion of San Pedro High School. The Class of 1990 got together over the weekend to celebrate their memories at San Pedro High and their lasting friendship as one of the funnest classes to come out of SPHS. Congratulations guys!
They are the sixth group of students to graduate from San Pedro High School; the Class of 1980 celebrated its 40th graduation anniversary over the weekend. The group boasts the only class to produce two Mayors for San Pedro Town - current Mayor Daniel Guerrero and former Mayor Elsa Paz. The remaining class members include Marisol Trejo, Cherrie Nunez Maggard, Zoyla Gonzalez Guerrero, Leny Alamilla Nuñez, Ali Nuñez and Guillermo Nuñez. The group had a great time reminiscing about the 'good ole days' at Nupalm Island Lounge.
Child Stimulation Month 2020 kicked off countrywide under the theme "Hug Me, Listen to Me, Read with Me – Help Me Grow". Like clockwork, Child Stimulation Month commences on the first day of March every year, with it bringing an array of activities for the pre-school children of San Pedro. Pre-Schools on the island celebrated the opening of Child Stimulation Month with a parade through the main streets of San Pedro. Children were in colorful costumes displaying National Symbols of Belize, Colors, Shapes, Community Workers and so much more.

The student body of The Island Academy took guests on a "Holiday Roadtrip" as they presented their Christmas Pageant last night, Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the school compound. The upperclassmen whisked everyone to various destinations as they traveled across the United States showing how different cities celebrate the Christmas Holidays. Saga Humane Society held its 16th Annual Halloween Spooktacular on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at the Crazy Canuks Bar. There was much to each and drink, fun raffles with awesome prizes. Our Patron Saint Celebrations took place this past weekend with both religious activities and fun entertainment for the entire family to enjoy. Children enjoyed a fun show alon with super heroes and princesses while adults were entertained by mariachi band and comedian and good music by Rompe Raja and Caribbean Kings. The San Pedro Pirates Football Team held its victory rally on Tuesday, May 21, 2019. Hundreds of fans came out in support of the Island's team to celebrate their championship. The parade was led by the thrrough the streets of San Pedro proudly showing off their trophies in very high spirits! Congratulations to the San Pedro Pirates! Si se pudo!!!
Graduation season is here and there was quite a buzz at the San Pedro High School on Monday, May 20, 2019, in the afternoon as they gave graduation announcement. Students were all excited and nervous to know what the results were as we enter graduation season. Students on campus were happy to receive the great news and without fail the ever popular signing of uniforms took place. The San Pedro Lions Club has a new beauty queen! Lovely Miss Ashley Barrientos was officially crowned on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the San Pedro Lions Club by outgoing queen Erika Bodden. During the ceremony three lion members; Gonzalo Lara, Nita Marin and Nelly Sabido were given special recognition and awarded a special pin by Lions International.
The wait is finally over - the Belikin Store is now open! The Belikin Store opened its doors for business on Friday, April 5, 2019 and is located on #10 Coconut Drive right across Tropic Air's Terminal Building.
Digi Belize officially inaugurated its New Digi Store on Saturday, March 30, 2019. The New Digi Store is located at the Wing's Building on Coconut Drive. Island residents enjoyed awesome deals and Top Up at the new store during the inauguration. Child Stimulation Month is coming to an end and teachers and students from all across have been busy carrying out fun activities throughout the month of March. Today, Wednesday, 27 March 2019, Pre-School teachers participated in an Early Childhood Expo which was held at the San Pedro Central Park. There were different booth from Reading Stations, Arts and Crafts, Music and so much more. Students, teachers and parents enjoyed fun games and activities throughout the day. The San Pedro House of Culture held its first ever Pre-School Arts Exhibition on March 13 & 14. Beautiful arts made by pre-schoolers from different schools were on display. Sergio and Zennia Gomez formally presented 15-year-old Rhea Gomez to society as a young lady in the community at her Quinceañera birthday party that was celebrated on Saturday, March 2, 2019. After her special mass at the San Pedro Roman Catholic Church, family and friends celebrated at a reception held at El Patio Restaurant. It was a magical evening under a musical theme as per Rhea's love of music. Happy Birthday Rhea Gomez.
With much excitement island residents enjoyed a Carnaval Parade which was held on Saturday, March 2, 2019. The parade started off at the Bocal Del Area Park and headed down Laguna Drive heading its way to the town core. There was lots of music and merriment by both carinval dancers and spectators. Leading the parade was a golf cart with Don Juan Carnaval followed by fun cartoon characters, Titans Mas Band Carnival Group along with the ever popular Ernestine Carballo. Also joining the parade was the Miss San Pedro Float, Reinas del Carnaval and Nayobie's Hope for Children Group.

The San Pedro House of Culture officially kicked off the Carnaval 2019 celebrations on Friday, March 1, 2019 with a Carnaval Comparsa Fashion Show. Those in attendance enjoyed brief history of carnaval comparasas as models showed off their costumes and danced for the crowd. Here are some pictures of the event.
