A resident of an apartment building, located across from the San Pedro Roman Catholic School, came across a handgun on the front steps of her resident as she came out to investigate the sounds of gunfire. At the same time, a second resident of the apartment building discovered a male lying in a pool of blood in front of his apartment located on the second floor. This shooting incident took place this morning, Thursday, May 2, 2019, at about 9a.m.
The male person has been confirmed deceased and the body is waiting transportation to the San Pedro Poly Clinic. Police are currently on the look out for one or two individuals who are believed to be involved in this daylight crime. More information to be posted as it becomes available to us.
Eighteen-year-old Brandon Humes has been identified as the murder victim of this morning’s shooting incident that took place on a second-floor apartment on Coconut Drive, directly across from the San Pedro Roman Catholic School.
Police processed the area and found 12, 9mm expended shells at the crime scene. Humes received nine gunshots - (1) center lower back (1) left side rib cage area (3) left arm, upper part(1) left lower arm (2) left side of chest (1) left side of head. Police believe this murder is drug related.
Humes was from the south side of Belize City and police have launched a full investigation with the assistance of surveillance camera footage in the area. Potential suspects have been identified but no arrests have been made.
