The San Pedro House of Culture hosted “Dia de la Cruz” on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. After a special novena, the exhibition that included more examples of adorned crosses was open for everyone to enjoy. A small party with beautiful music, some snacks and drinks were available to those present.
“ Dia de La Cruz” takes place every May 3rd as the date coincides with the founding of the city, Santa Cruz. It is also a very old religious ceremony that began in 1494 after the Byzantine Empress Saint Helena was in search for the cross on which Jesus died.
“Dia de la Cruz” is celebrated in style, with representations of the cross adorned with flowers and other decorative objects.
